Mission to Make a Movie a Month

As some of you know by watching my youtube videos and stuff, I enjoy teaching and learning. I also love camera's. All during my music recording career the camera or video recorder was something that went everywhere I did. I've taken some great footage and captured many moments, I've also captured many incredible moments that somehow got lost in the pre-development process. Thank god for digital copies and backups. As I have been living my life and doing my work, I have just naturally traveled with the camera documenting things. I managed to turn my love of movies into a fulltime fixation over the years, shooting short films, commercials and music videos. Lately I've been trying to perfect my photography with the Canon 7d and Canon hv30 camera's. I'm having a blast in the process. There is a lot to learn about, lights, lenses, cameras, fstops etc, for years now I have been doing it for the love of learning. But i've come to realize that I do it so mu...

Lakers Did Good

okay, so, yeah, I'm a big Kevin Garnett fan. Which has allowed me to stomach the Boston Celtics franchise which as a long time Knicks fan I absolutely hated. I've been down with KG for years since he arrived in Minneapolis as a wide eyed teenager. I supported him and the twolves by being a season ticket holder for years. He was also good friends with Jam & Lewis, he came in and was part of the Flyte Tyme family. When he left Minnesota, the media and twolves owners called him a loser, said that he could never win the big game. He joined Boston and got the big game won. I left Minnesota shortly Kevin did and have supported him still as he comes to the end of his career. We had a good ride thanks to the "Big Ticket". Kevin played well in the championship game last night, but it wasn't enough to stop to opposing 7 foot centers and a red hot "Ron Artest"? who would have thought Koby could shoot that bad and the Lakers could still win. Oh well...
As a musician for a very long time I have amassed a large amount of hardware, from instruments to microphones and microphone stands, etc. And since its nearly impossible for me to throw anything away, I find that whenever I need something to modify how I carry or place my camera my creative mind kicks in and I try and build it from parts I have in my garage, sometimes these projects are disasterous, but sometimes, i walk away with something that I can use for my every evolving Canon 7d camera rig, I always seem to have lots of parts available. In filmmaking, there is an essential piece of kit known as a "Hi Hat". Not to be confused with the clangy saucer shaped tingy's that drummers keep rhythm with, Its primary function is to allow you to mount your camera on a sturdy surface that is very low to the ground. Why its called a Hi Hat? I don't know. But I do know that when trying to get a shot of your subject from a very low angle, or close to the ground shooting...
