I'm one of the many excited HDSLR shooters these days. Canon has stepped up the game in an amazing way. With the 7d and choice lenses, high quality movie making is in the hands of the mad man LOL. Seriously though if you want to see some amazing photos and video, then look no further than the Canon 5d, 7d or the recently introduced T2i. One of the biggest concerns is about audio, there is no clearcut way to get audio according to some, but to me, its pretty straight forward. If you don't want to use the camera's onboard mic which in a pinch is just fine, but for higher quality projects such as movies etc. a nice audio box with xlr's will help you get sound into these cameras. its not that tough. Finally though, audio is getting the attention it deserves for the first time that I can remember as it relates to video.
